This CD is a re-edition of the first Ropartz disc that the Ensemble Stanislas recorded under Timpani in 1999, and which was rapidly sold out following its outstanding success (“Choc” in the Monde de la Musique, “Recommended” in Classica, etc...). It contains however an unpublished work: in place of the 4th string quartet which figured alongside the trio for piano and the quintet for flute, harp and strings (and which has been re-recorded for the complete quartet works), there is now the string trio, recorded in the Salle Poirel, Nancy, in July 2006. It is in fact the first recording ever worldwide of this magnificent work which dates from 1934.
